A wonderful day

After an amazing cooked breakfast which included the infamous black pudding, we headed off to see the Calanais Stones. It looks like Stone Henge but almost in the sign of a Celtic Cross. Very eerie and you could imagine Pagan rituals taking place there. The Standing Stones of Calanais are one of the most remote and ancient monuments. Why are they here?? Why did the ancient inhabitants of Calanais raise a carefully constructed circle of standing stones?
Everything is so very beautiful. We went to The Island of Great Bernera. The scenery is spectacular and we visited the remains of an Iron Age house. We stopped at the smallest shop in the universe and bought Curly Wurlys and SOUTH AFRICAN sauvignon blanc! hee hee. Last night in the Outer Hebrides... a great experience that I would not have missed for anything.
Tomorrow it is back to London via Edinburgh for Easter with Kylie and Ed. I also hope to catch up with my friends Julia and Michael who are back in UK after a stressful trip to bring his parents to settle in the UK.
So, up early tomorrow. Helen and Bernie taking me to the airport at 7am! Middle of the night by Stornoway standards.
